Mr. Sudip Pathak was elected as the third President of the Human Rights Organization of Nepal (HURON) by the 6th National Convention and served from 2000 to 2015. His tenure was marked by HURON’s active engagement in addressing complex human rights challenges during Nepal’s armed conflict and the subsequent peace process.
Under his stewardship, HURON played an instrumental role in facilitating dialogue between the Maoist rebels and the Government, institutionalized the Urgent Action Unit to address rights violations promptly, and contributed significantly to the peace negotiations that culminated in the signing of the Comprehensive Peace Accord. Following his presidency, he served as a Member of the National Human Rights Commission until 2020.
