Mr. Charan Prasai, a human rights defender, served as Acting President of HURON from 2004 to 2006, during Nepal’s turbulent period of armed conflict and political transition. He strengthened HURON’s advocacy for justice, accountability, and human rights protection.

Beyond HURON, he has been a leading figure in Nepal’s civil society, founding the Human Rights National Magna Meet (HRNMM) and holding roles such as Chairperson of Amnesty International Nepal, ASPAC Steering Committee Member, and President of Nepal Jaycees. He also contributed to the peace process as a Member of the National Peace Monitoring Committee until the 2006 Comprehensive Peace Agreement.
As a training consultant, Mr. Prasai has supported local governments and civil society organizations, including initiating nationwide human rights training for the Nepal Police Academy.
